About St. Pete Pier
Reopened in 2020 after a full redesign, the St. Pete Pier's District includes a museum, splash pad, market, restaurants — and a dedicated fishing deck on the east side of the Pier Point building. Fishing is free, requires a Florida saltwater fishing licence, and is permitted from 30 minutes before sunrise until 11 p.m. daily.
Gator Jim's Tackle, right on site, handles bait, rod rentals, and gear for anglers who show up empty-handed, plus a fish-cleaning station with running water. Expect to catch snapper, flounder, black drum (try shrimp or blue crab), snook, and the occasional tarpon in the surrounding waters of Tampa Bay.
The wider Pier District is pet-friendly, open until 11 p.m., and free to enter — no charge just to walk out and take in the view.
