About Naples Pier
The Naples Pier has been a fixture of the city since 1888, when it was built as a freight and passenger dock for the original Naples Hotel. It's been rebuilt seven times since, after hurricanes in 1910, 1926, 1944, and 1960, plus storm damage from Hurricane Irma in 2017.
Hurricane Ian's 2022 storm surge took out roughly 460 feet of the structure, including the entire fishing platform at the end. The City of Naples broke ground on a full rebuild in January 2026 — a $26.3 million project using modern concrete pilings designed to outlast future storms — with a target reopening around 2027.
Until then, the pier itself is closed to visitors, though the beach beneath it and the sunset views remain open. When it reopens, expect the historic 1,000-foot length, a return of grouper, snapper, mackerel, sheepshead, and trout to the fishing lineup, and new features like an underwater viewing camera.
