About Anglin's Fishing Pier

Anglin's has been a Lauderdale-by-the-Sea landmark since 1941, when town founder Melvin Anglin built the original 800-foot wooden pier to draw tourists to the small beach community; it was extended to 876–900 feet on concrete pilings in the early 1960s.

The pier has been closed to the public since Hurricane Irma damaged it in 2017, with further losses from Hurricane Nicole in 2022. As of mid-2026, the privately owned pier remains shut while the owner works through a lengthy federal, state, and county permitting process — the town's own page estimates repairs won't begin until at least summer 2026, with a possible reopening around 2028.

The beachfront café at the base of the pier remains open even though the pier itself does not.

Researched and verified August 2026. Hours, fees and access change — and Florida piers are regularly closed by storm damage — so confirm with the operator before travelling. Current fees and hours: Town of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea — Anglin's Pier FAQ. Spotted something out of date? Tell us.
